Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive, degenerative disease of the brain, which causes thinking and memory to become seriously impaired. It is the most common form of dementia. (Dementia is a syndrome consisting of a number of symptoms that include loss of memory, judgment and reasoning, and changes in mood, behavior and communication abilities. Related diseases include: Vascular Dementia, Frontotemporal Dementia, Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease and Lewy body Dementia.)
The disease was first identified by Dr. Alois Alzheimer in 1906. He described the two hallmarks of the disease: “plaques” - numerous tiny dense deposits scattered throughout the brain which become toxic to brain cells at excessive levels and “tangles” which interfere with vital processes eventually “choking” off the living cells. As well, when brain cells degenerate and die, the brain markedly shrinks in some regions.
As Alzheimer’s disease progresses and affects different areas of the brain, various abilities become impaired. The result is changes in abilities and/or behavior. At present, once ability is lost, it is not known to return. However, research is now suggesting that some relearning may be possible.
Alzheimer’s symptoms include depression, confused perception of space and time, inability to concentrate and communicate, loss of ability to hold urine and feces, memory loss, personality changes and mood swings. Health and overall performance figure is rapidly deteriorating, until one is completely incapable of operating independently.
Power3 Medical Products, Inc. is a leading bio-technology company focused on the development of innovative diagnostic tests in the fields of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (commonly known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease). Power3 Medical applies proprietary methodologies to discover and identify protein biomarkers associated with diseases. Through these processes, Power3 Medical has developed a portfolio of products including BC-SeraPro™, a proteomic blood serum test for the early detection of breast cancer for which it has completed Phase I clinical trials, and NuroPro®, a proteomic blood serum test for the detection of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS diseases, for which it is currently engaged in Phase II clinical trials.
The NuroPro Blood Test of Power3 Medical Products, Inc. is a diagnostic tool for the early detection of Neurodegenerative diseases. The analysis is designed as a tool for physicians to diagnose various degenerative diseases of the brain and nervous system.
The NuroPro Blood Test involves monitoring the concentration of 59 proteins in blood serum to accurately detect and distinguish between Alzheimer’s disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), and Parkinson’s disease. Early detection of these diseases will allow physicians to intervene at an early stage to delay disease progression, potentially allowing patients to outlive their debilitating symptoms.

The demand for rare earth metal along with other metals is increasing more and more every year. Take rare earth metal as an example, the total quantity consumed in the entire world from 1900-2006 was 2.2 million tons, with the yearly increased in the consumption and it is now estimated that demand in the next 30 years expects to be 8 million - 10 million tons. Therefore, as to maintain rare earth life span it is necessary to secure a reserve quantity of 4-5 times the amount of consumed resources in the past 100 years.
Significant amounts of rare earth elements are produced in only a few countries. China is the dominant producer of rare earth elements and is believed to be responsible for over 95% of the world mine production on a rare earth oxide equivalent basis. China became the world’s dominant producer of rare earth elements in the early 1990s, when production at the Mountain Pass mine in California began to decline. China has decided to cut off its exports of rare earth elements in order to meet its domestic demand.
American Video Teleconferencing Corp. believes that the rare earths industry is where it wants to maintain a very strong focus and is looking to expand its holdings. AVOT is normally known for its business and efforts of exploration in Rare Earth Elements. According to American Video Teleconferencing Corp., it would aggressively continue to search world-wide for opportunities in Precious, Base and Rare Earths metal projects in its future strategies.
